From the blog

I know, I know! It’s been some time since I last posted a review of an album from my collection. Truth is, I’m just busy. I’m in the process of planning a wedding, a few big gigs, and of course my radio show. Anyway, enough griping about it. I found a little bit of free time so I’ll do what I can.

The Whispers have made it back into my rotation as of late. The main reason is that they seem like the go to artists that just a majority of remixers have been re-editing as of late. I haven’t played a lot of the edits on my radio show because I play them when I’m doing my live shows all… the… time! It’s not like I’m tired of hearing the songs, (I don’t think anyone can get tired of The Whispers) it’s just that my brain is registering that I just played a certain track and I really don’t like playing things over and over again. If you haven’t caught on to that.

What can I say about The Whispers that hasn’t already been said? The group started out in 1964 and had numerous gold and platinum albums all the way through the 90’s. Most of the more popular works were happening right around the late 70’s throughout the late 80’s. What’s amazing to me is that the group has been able to evolve and adapt to whatever was happening at the time in the world of music. There is a huge difference between what was happening to music in the mid 60’s and the mid 80’s. These gents somehow kept the whole multi-male, harmonized vocals, setup like other prominent groups of the 60’s and 70’s and yet they never succumbed to really any of the cheesy stuff.
