From the blog

I just realized that I haven’t reviewed any female artists of the 80’s on this site! How could I possibly leave out any of the contributions that these amazing women have given the world? (Maybe I’m just too busy and I’m not making enough money on this blog site to quit my day job yet.)

One of my favorite voices of the late 70’s and 80’s has got to be Evelyn “Champagne” King. There’s always something about her voice, equal parts sultry, sassy, and piercing that just makes me want to move. I chose this album to review first because it has a good handful of floor grooving tracks. The first and title track “I’m In Love” is always a favorite and is recognizable by almost anyone. However, you’ve got to hear the bassline on “If You Want My Lovin” which will cause anyone’s ass to shake and groove. “Spirit of the Dancer” is another high energy track that actually clocks in at a very respectable 123 beats per minute. I’ve used that track a few times to hype the floor before bringing in another track. You really cannot go wrong with this album in your collection. It’s not too uncommon to find, however for some of the tracks that I mentioned you may want to find the 12″ singles. Makes it much easier to play in a dark, dank night club.
